For decades, most discussions about steel’s role in sustainable construction focused on its recycled content and end-of-life recyclability. But as the “green building” movement matured and the science behind sustainability became more comprehensive, something else happened. The very attributes that long made steel the foundation of modern civilization – its strength, durability and functionality – started being recognized as having sustainability benefits in their own right.
