The objective of this presentation is to familiarize the attendees with the benefits of building mid-rise construction with lightweight steel framing. The use of lightweight steel framing is growing across North America and has many practical advantages. The goal is to show that lightweight steel framing is a practical and cost-effective method for the construction for mid-rise buildings. Course objectives include a technical look at bracing and flooring systems as well as fire and sound ratings. Attendees will learn about fire and sound rating requirements and solutions in lightweight steel framing. Overview of the benefits of panelization and the impacts it can have on construction time. Floor construction options will be discussed to learn the most efficient systems to use with lightweight. Target audiences include architects and engineers as well as building contractors. This will be a more technical presentation and therefore a more intermediate to advanced level of interest.
